Each year the district typically faces a week or more of freezing cold weather or snow. If severe weather conditions exist, school district personnel will drive the roads early in the morning to determine if they are safe for bus travel. We work closely with Kelso Schools, the City of Longview and Cowlitz County to evaluate road conditions whenever bad weather exists.
If road conditions are bad the district may delay the start of school or cancel school for the day. Decisions will be made early in the morning and posted to the district web site and Facebook page by 6am each day. Typically, updates are posted throughout the morning as weather and driving conditions change – so check back frequently for updates.
The safety and security of our students and staff members is a top priority. If you have questions please don’t hesitate to call your school.
Listen to Dr. West’s radio announcement about the Child Find program!
If you know any child, from birth to 21 years of age who has, or may have, a disability, please contact Longview Public Schools at 360-575-7008.
The Longview Police Department has given the district the “All Clear” signal. Any students still at school will now be allowed to take the bus or walk home. Students riding the bus will be dropped off at their normal bus stop. The school district worked closely with the Longview Police Department to keep our students and staff members safe, and to provide families clear information during this incident, and we appreciate your patience.
Safety and security of our students and staff members is our top priority.
